Our mission is to help families experiencing homelessness to achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response.
Family Promise of Ontario County utilizes a unique method of tailored casework for each family member in our array of care options (Sheltered, Diversion, Prevention, Stabilization, and Rapid Rehousing). Our caseworkers provide assistance to homeless families to achieve sustainable independence by supporting them with individual services. These include helping find and secure affordable housing, helping find stable income, navigating healthcare programs for all family members, developing financial literacy, and attaining reliable transportation, all at no cost to these families.
We provide a trauma informed approach to help ensure each member of the family has access and understanding to needed mental and physical health that is necessary, while advocating for any individuals facing adversity.
Our 6 apartments have been consistently full since opening. In 2022 Family Promise received over 167 family referrals total for emergency housing services, unfortunately we were unable to house all that needed it. Currently, there are no other homeless shelters in Ontario County for children and families.
Family Promise of Ontario County is a unique, efficient, and successful means to address the issue of family homelessness in our county.
