Greece Montessori School

Greece Montessori School (GMS) offers an infant (Nido), toddler, preschool, kindergarten, and an extended-day program to children ages 3 months through 6 years of age in and surrounding Greece, NY. GMS was established in 1971 by an interested group of parents who had met monthly for a year to study Montessori and then decided that there was a need in the area for a school offering the Montessori curriculum to preschool children. For nearly 45 years, Greece Montessori School has provided the only Montessori-based education program to children and families in the Greece area. GMS is recognized by the Association Montessori Internationale and is a not-for-profit organization. The Montessori-based approach is centered around a holistic and respectful relationship between the child and the environment and the teacher or caregiver to encourage and nurture healthy child development. At GMS, teachers and staff observe, listen, and respond in ways that foster exploration, independence, and optimism, while providing an environment for children to learn, grow, and explore. Together, the teachers, students, and families work to understand and support every child's emotional, intellectual, physical, and social growth.
