Rainbow Seniors ROC, Inc.

Rainbow Seniors ROC, Inc. is a nonprofit advocacy, service and social activity group for greater Rochester area Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer+ (LGBTQ+) seniors, mainly 50+. All programs are open to the public and all are welcome, with the proviso that mutual respect toward one another is mandatory. Embracing diversity, equity and inclusion, we act as a voice for Rochester’s older LGBTQ+ adults. We provide an opportunity for members to connect with community, enrich their lives and link with needed senior services, so they can “live vibrantly at every age”. Rainbow Seniors ROC was established in March 2020, subsequent to the closing of the SAGE Seniors program at the Out Alliance during the covid pandemic. We are incorporated and operate as a 501c3 nonprofit, guided by a Board of Directors. A monthly calendar of activities includes a subsidized weekly senior lunch, twice weekly senior yoga, card nights, seasonal parties and dances, health and wellness programming, education and off-site events like happy hours and dinner meetups for LGBTQ+ people and allies. We also build relationships with the aging service sector, providing education and SafeZone training for eldercare providers and other audiences, as we address the needs of older LGBTQ+ people and promote positive images of LGBTQ+ life in later years.
