Recovery Housing

Recovery Houses of Rochester was founded in November 2002. Its founder and executive director started Recovery Houses of Rochester after noticing the absence of sober living facilities for men, particularly men of color, who may also have a co-occurring mental health condition. The program uses a social, peer-based model of recovery. At Recovery Houses of Rochester, staff and peers work with intrinsically motivated residents to: 1. Identify recovery goals and develop a sustainable recovery plan. 2. Maintain total abstinence from all mood-altering chemicals and drugs. 3. Complete all outpatient clinical and mental health treatment. 4. Re-unite with immediate and extended family members. 5. Re-enter the community and find gainful employment thereby regaining their financial independence. Recovery Houses of Rochester does not provide on-site clinical services to residents.

Help Our Houses Look Like Homes!

These funds will be used to make basic but valuable upgrades (paint, plants, curtains) to help make the Recovery Houses feel more like home for our residents. The peer-based, social model supports the foundation for our Recovery Residences, but we also want to help create more welcoming physical spaces. Research suggests that the physical environmental impacts mental health. As our residents are persons in recovery from substance use disorders, many along with co-occurring mental health, it is imperative to create healthy, inviting home environments.
