The Autism Nature Trail (The ANT) at Letchworth State Park

The Autism Nature Trail (The ANT) at Letchworth State Park encourages visitors to experience nature in a way uniquely suited to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as those with a range of disabilities. The ANT welcomes everyone of all abilities and ages to experience the inspiring, engaging and calming qualities of the natural world in a world-class setting. (Letchworth is among the State's premier scenic destinations, attracting as many as a million visitors each year.) Considered by leading experts to be an original and model approach to serving the neurodiverse community, The ANT features a series of independent, interactive stations along a one-mile, ADA-compliant looped main trail which were designed by occupational and physical therapists, speech/language pathologists, autism experts, a natural play specialist, landscape architects, higher education academics and practitioners, special educators, Parks personnel and family members. Stations incorporate the natural surroundings of the Park to promote visual, auditory, olfactory, vestibular and tactile exploration, providing a range of cognitive, experiential and social activities -- all while embracing the beauty and tranquility of nature. The ANT is 100% privately funded and has never received direct financial support from any municipal, state or federal source. ANT Alliance, Inc. is the 501(c)(3) corporation which oversees the Trail's operation. SO WE NEED YOUR TAX-DEDUCTIBLE DONATIONS TO MAINTAIN THE TRAIL! The ANT adds a much-needed positive, safe and inclusive experience in outdoor recreation for individuals, families, school groups, agencies, tourists and all visitors and truly is a nature trail for everyone!
